The Three legged Stool: Serve - Innovate - Economize

 

Serving : I think the greatest service I accomplished these past four years was to make the county government more open and accessible. This was done primarily through the the introduction of a County web page that I designed and maintain at no cost to the citizens.

We have:

The web site sees over 1000 hits a month. its usage increased 38% from last year from the previous year.

Estimated cost savings in time --- over $92,000

In addition to the making my office very accessible, I initiated a practice of having two breakfasts each week for citizens to come and enjoy discussing concerns or ideas over a cup of coffee.. Biff's in Mooresville, Tuesday at 8:00 and Amy's in Brooklyn at 8:00 on Thursdays.

Innovate and economize;

I initiated a plan that led to the county getting a new Logo...again at no cost to the county taxpayers. I think the Logo in an attractive addition and will continue to have a positive impact on economic development and County pride.

I introduced an ordinance the will encourage employees of the county to find cost saving practices.

We have started a volunteer program called General Morgan's Reserves. It has the potential to accomplished many of the needed tasks utilizing the volunteer program.

In my district I have initiated two methods of road preservation practices that had not been accomplished previously in the county. This should result in significant savings in road repair in the coming years

I have also increased the number of miles of roads that are line-striped in my district making the roads safer.

 

In short .. I have innovated, economized and served.... and I am always listening for ways to further those practices.
