Campaign Committee

The Chairman of my Campaign Committee is Bob Gregory.

Bob is an orhardist (Gregory Orchards) and a wise, unpretentious, and unassuming man. He was elected to the Morgan County Council from our district for 28 years. I have always enjoyed his company and sage advise. When I was considering seeking the council seat vacated by Sam Carlisle, I stopped by the orchard to get some apples and advice. "Well, you'll learn  a lot about Morgan County." he said. How true that has proven. It was the sort of succinct understatement that I have grown to appreciate. I just wish I could learn as much as he has accumulated. If I am in a quandary of what to do on a council vote, I ask myself, "What would Bob do?" When I was considering seeking the commissioner's seat I again went to Bob. "Now why would you want to do that?" he said while huddled around a kerosene heater in the apple house. "That job is full of headaches." I have no doubts it's true, but if elected and a headache comes along, I'll still ask myself, "What would Bob do?" We'll huddle around that kerosene heater more than once....and I welcome the opportunity.

The Treasurer of my Campaign Committee is Pat Overholser.

Pat has operated the Children's Park Day Care center for at least 25 years because that was when our son Jed attended there as a three or four year old. Pat has served the citizens well by providing this state licensed quality service. She is also a member of the board of Citizens Bank. Her husband, Bill was my principal at Mooresville High School fore most of my teaching career. Pat also served several years on the Mooresville Town Council in a time when our community was making some visionary changes. Those changes and her talents have served our community well. I feel very fortunate to have this competent and thoughtful friend serve as the treasurer for this campaign.
